You are welcome to wear Western clothing for all three days of the wedding (24th, 25th and 27th). However, if you would like to wear Indian clothing, we recommend wearing Indian attire on the second day in Jaipur (25th) and/or during the Delhi reception (27th). You can buy one Indian outfit to wear both on the 25th and 27th. If you fall in love with the clothing, you can also buy two separate outfits. 🙂
It will also be possible to do shopping for your Indian attire upon arrival in India (in Jaipur).
However, in case you would like to take more time and have a broader selection, you can also select your Indian clothing online, share the link and your size with us, and we will order it for you in advance. We will have it delivered to Kriti's Dad's place in India, and we will bring it to the wedding venue in Jaipur for you. There will be a tailor on-site at the wedding venue who can make minor adjustments there for you.
We recommend wearing a saree. There are three pieces to a saree: the blouse, the petticoat (long skirt under the saree cloth), and the saree itself. Sarees are one-size-fits-all, while the blouse and petticoat size can vary. We can take you to buy a prestitched blouse and petticoat to your size in Jaipur (alternatively, some online shops below offer a prestitched blouse and petticoat). The tailor will be able to make minor adjustments to your blouse on-site in Jaipur, if needed. There will also be a few women present at the wedding venue to help you tie your saree.
Other options are a kurta or lehenga. The fabric is already pre-stitched for these items, so you have to choose your size in advance.
The traditional Indian wedding outfit for men is a kurta set. This comprises of a long tunic (kurta), loose trousers (pyjama) and sometimes a sleeveless vest (bundi) or long jacket (sherwani). It is often easier for men to buy kurta sets "off the rack" (ie. you will not need any adjustments), as long as you select the right size on the webshop. However, if you need to get minor adjustments made (ie shortening sleeves or pants), we will have a tailor on-site at the wedding venue who can do that for you.
We recommend buying a kurta and pyjama set, optionally with a sleeveless jacket (a bundi) for a more formal / stylish appearance. However, it will be warm weather and it is perfectly fine to only wear a kurta and pyjama set!
